The Foundation Laying ceremony towards the construction of the Administrative block of the NACETEM’s headquarters was performed by the Vice-Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Prof. M. O. Faborode on Wednesday, 29th November 2006.
The ceremony had in attendance, the Chaplain of All Souls Chapel, OAU, Ile-Ife, Rev. Francis Iduma; the Director of Works and Maintenance OAU Ile-Ife, Engr. Odeleye and some other members of the VC’s staff. Members of NACETEM staff present include the DG/NACETEM, Dr. W. Siyanbola who is also the Chairman, (Resident Due Process Team RDPT); AD (Accts)/Member RDPT, Mr. Fayoade; Mr. Ayoola, Head of Admin/Secretary (RDPT) and some other management staff. Also present were the Quantity Surveyor for the project, Mr. Dada; Consultant to the project, Arch. Egbe and the Contractors to the project, Messrs. Sef Consult and their team of engineers.
The ceremony commenced with a few opening remarks by the DG/NACETEM, Dr. Siyanbola. He informed guests that the contract was awarded in October 2006 to Messrs. Sef Consult and work on the project is expected to be completed by May 2007. Work has commenced in earnest with the perimeter fencing around the site nearing completion and construction work at the sub-structure level on the administrative block. The ceremony also featured scriptural readings from the Bible and prayers were later offered by the Chaplain of All Souls Church, Rev. Francis Iduma. Thereafter the Vice Chancellor proceeded to lay the foundation stone, accompanied by the DG-NACETEM. After the short ceremony, invited guests were treated to light refreshments
