I am pleased to welcome every member of staff to a year that started on a grand style. This year, you would recall, started on a Sunday – a special day of the Lord that began a new week and a new month.  Besides the uniqueness of the commencement of this year, it is also a leap year. For these reasons, I am convinced that this year has a lot of opportunities in stock for us as a Centre and it therefore gladdens my heart to congratulate you all that you made it to this unique year.
In 2011, the Centre recorded some remarkable achievements. Despite the slow start to the year because of late release of funds, the will to succeed in the face of all odds exhibited by members of staff saw us through. The Agency  commissioned its new administrative complex to the admiration of all, presented the first set of its published monographs to the public, engaged actively with state ministries of science and technology across the country, admitted close to 250 participants into its Postgraduate Diploma in Technology Management programme, to mention but just a few. To crown it all, the new science, technology and innovation policy anchored by the Centre on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology was discussed at the Federal Executive Council meeting with positive reactions. We are optimistic that the policy will be given full approval of the Council before the end of January 2012. All of these could not have been achieved without you. For your efforts in 2011, please accept my sincere gratitude.
I want to urge everyone to continue from where we stopped in the out gone year. While we should not become complacent with our achievements in 2011, we should however ride on the momentum generated by these accomplishments in order to record greater feats in 2012.
I wish you all a prosperous and positively eventful new year.

Willie O. Siyanbola, Ph.D.
