In his welcome address, the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of NACETEM, Dr. Willie Siyanbola expressed his appreciation to all members of the NACETEM family emphasizing the significance of each individual’s efforts in bringing NACETEM to its present status.  He then appealed to every member of staff of the Centre not to rest on the oars.
In attendance at the dual-purpose programme were the Directors of the South-south and North-Central offices of NACETEM, Mr. Ini Ekanem and Dr. Olumuyiwa Olamade respectively and the pioneer Chief Executive of NACETEM, Professor Sikiru Sanni who was the Chairman of the occasion.

Professor Sanni, in his remarks, chronicled how NACETEM took off and lauded the selfless, devoted and astute character of the retired, DFA, Mr. Lasisi Fayoade, whom he described as a rare breed of Accountant in Nigeria. The Professor of Chemical Engineering described the contributions of Mr. Fayoade to the growth of NACETEM as unforgettable in the history of the Centre.

While numerous gifts were showered on the outgone DFA, deserving members of staff from the various departments were also recognized and commended. The 2009 winners of the commendation awards include, Mr. S.O. Adeyemo (P&D), Mr. O.O. Isola (Technical),  Mr. I.A. Oluyi (Admin.), Mrs. A.M. Odebiyi (Accounts) and Mr. A.A. Egbetokun who got the award for the best short-term course coordinator.

While responding, the celebrated retiree, Mr. L.A. Fayoade, expressed his gratitude to God for giving him the privilege to serve and to retire peacefully. He did not mince words in appreciating all members of the NACETEM for supporting him throughout his 17 years sojourn at the Centre. He also implored all members of staff who are still in active service to be devoted to their duties and desist from sharp practices that may tarnish both their images and the good name of the Centre.
